Andrea Kiss

The style and colours of her photos, and the illustrations are travelling us back to the ‘20-‘30s. Her photos show us stopped moments, but the awakened feelings keep staying with us and accompanying us much longer.

Andrea Kiss has been concerned about the visual forms of expression during her whole life. The photo is necessary for her workflow, and on the other hand it is the tool of creating the final art as well. She is currently researching the relation and opportunities of combining fine art and photography. Her main topics are the self, still life and the interior.
During many years of creative work she worked with graphics, paper art and papercuts. She used to teach in school and also had private students. Her most important guide for her students was the following – also an essential idea of her art activity: the technical improvement of the artwork should harmoniously fit the process of creation and the development of personality.
While Andrea has been using photography earlier only as a tool for creating photo research for her artworks, in the last 4 years it became her most important way of expression.
Her photos are showing her everyday life as a diary. The photos have short titles, and are unexplained – she doesn’t wish to influence the viewers by titles, nor by descriptions. The whole process of creation, contemplation and reception is considered to be a game that also involves the contemplator – they are finishing the artwork by their purely subjective interpretation…
