Susanna Seriola-Vesa is a Finnish contemporary painter who lives and works in Tampere. Her art is built on a powerful, layered acrylic technique: on rough, textured canvases, the physical presence of paint creates an almost sculptural depth.
She studied at the University of Industrial Arts Helsinki and, after completing her studies, returned to her hometown to begin her career as an interior architect. For many years, she ran her own interior architecture office, while drawing and painting — a natural form of expression since childhood — remained an essential part of her life.
As painting gradually became more central to her artistic journey, she made the bold decision to devote herself fully to art. Her first solo gallery exhibition took place in Turku, Finland, in 2000. Since then, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Finland and internationally.

Her paintings feature figurative motifs inspired by ancient history and mythology. These timeless references evolve into archetypes that resonate with contemporary human experience.
In her work, layering is not only a technical approach but also a conceptual one: the built-up surfaces evoke memory, time, and the complexity of human experience. Although her themes vary, her works are instantly recognizable — her distinctive artistic hand is present in each piece.
Susanna Seriola-Vesa’s painting unites the quiet sensitivity of the North with the strength of ancient narratives, creating a visual world that is both contemporary and timeless.
