Franz J. RITTMANNSBERGER – the most celebrated Austrian artist of our days, exhibits again in Nice, in our gallery. “Stones and their formations have always attracted me, especially stones, which are formed by nature and thus have become sculptures with an archaic touch. My sculptures often look very much like human fragments. The smooth surfaces of the structures make one forget that it is in fact a hard and heavy stone. Constantly looking for artistic ways to express myself, a certain style developed that shows the fusion of organic shapes and structures.
The developing of a sculpture is a process which already starts with the finding of erratic blocks. This often takes place under extreme conditions.
In my works of art the human being is always in the foreground.”
